Who says you need to step out to make a bold statement with your costume? With a little creativity and some household items, you can transform yourself into something spectacular right at home.
1. Glamorous Ghost
Turn a white sheet into a glamorous ghost outfit by cutting out eye holes and accessorizing with a dazzling necklace or tiara. This is my go-to when I want to be spooky yet chic—plus, it’s a breeze to make!
2. Safari Explorer
Kaki shorts, a wide-brim hat, and binoculars make for an adventurous explorer look. This costume is inspired by my love for nature and always sparks great conversations.
3. Nature’s Friend
Dress in green and attach leaves from your yard to become a walking bush. I tried this once for a garden party, and the compliments were as abundant as the leaves!
4. Scarecrow Surprise
Stuff some hay (or use raffia) into a flannel shirt and pair with overalls. This is a favorite from my childhood, and it’s easy to make with items from the garden shed.
5. Classic Black Cat
Raid your closet for a little black dress and pair it with black tights and a headband with DIY ears. I once pulled this off last minute with a bit of eyeliner for whiskers and felt fabulous all night.
6. Mummy Wrap
Wrap yourself in strips of old white sheets or bandages for a classic mummy look. I once did this for a Halloween party, and it was both spooky and snug.
7. Garden Gnome
A red hat, blue shirt, and some felt for a beard can turn you into a charming gnome. This whimsical costume idea was born from my own backyard adventures.
8. Cozy Pumpkin
Throw on an orange sweater and a green beanie for a cute pumpkin look. It’s my favorite for those chilly autumn nights when I want to stay warm and festive.
